Virtual Democratic National Convention Event on What’s At Stake For Health Care in the 2020 Election
On Monday, August 17 at 3:30 PM EDT, Protect Our Care will host a virtual event as part of the Democratic National Convention with party leaders, health care advocates and storytellers to discuss what’s at stake in the November election. Four more years of Donald Trump would be a disaster for our health care. The Trump administration is arguing before the Supreme Court that the entire Affordable Care Act should be struck down — in the middle of a pandemic. If successful, Trump would rip away health care from more than 23 million Americans and end protections for more than 135 million people with pre-existing conditions, including for millions of Americans who have contracted the virus.
A Biden administration and a Democratic Congress would work to lower health care costs and improve access to care and immediately reverse President Trump’s sabotage agenda, including his attempts to cut funding for Medicare and Medicaid and promote junk insurance plans that don’t protect people with pre-existing conditions.
The event will feature remarks by U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), a panel discussion with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D-CA) and Kathleen Sebelius, former United States Secretary of Health and Human Services. A second panel will feature health care storytellers and advocates.
