In Keynote Address, President Biden Places Reducing Health Care Costs as Top Priority to Pass Build Back Better

Washington, DC — Today, President Biden discussed his administration’s historic progress on lowering health costs and expanding coverage to millions of Americans at an event hosted by Families USA. During the event, President Biden called for passing the Build Back Better Act to “lower premiums for more than 9 million Americans, cover 4 million Americans in states that have failed to expand Medicaid, lower prescription drug costs, and bring down the price of insulin from $1,000 a month to $35 a month.” In response, Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:

“Once again, President Biden made clear that any version of the Build Back Better Act must include provisions to lower health care costs for the American people. The President is right: we have to get this done to meet the demands of voters and to help millions of families sleep easier at night knowing that they can afford their health care costs. This is a kitchen table issue that will provide relief where families need it most. It’s past time to get Build Back Better over the finish line.”
